CORE TIPs for WHOLE Living:

We can agree there is a lot of noise in the world, and I do not think it is going to change any time soon.  Do we need easier? and if so, what does it mean for our daily lives?  My opinion?  Easy is not just trying to uncomplicate things, shrink back and take a low road.  Easy is seeking wisdom to plan and to put systems in place that help you run more efficiently when it gets hard, and you feel like a failure that day because you hit the drive thru instead of the “healthy” meal, managed your finances poorly, yelled at a family member or were grouchy at work or just basically did not show up as your best in general even to yourself!  We all do it to some degree at different times on certain days.  What are these systems I am speaking of?

1.       Word and prayer time –   Just do it!  10 minutes or whatever you can do consistently.  Favorite devotional, I always encourage journaling.  Read your bible and pray – worship music.  This has effects on the mind and brain and body in so many ways in addition to our spiritual health and supernatural relationship with the Lord.  Relationships grow with attention.  Love you all.  I do know many of you do these things and if you don’t, start!  If you have drifted, start! – simple, lol.

2.       Food Prep – Yes, I said food prep and you say nah, or I do that and maybe some do, and if so I applaud you but most of us do not.

·         Look at our week ahead and try to anticipate what’s needed for meals and snacks.  I have been practicing this very thing while adjusting to a new routine.

·         Less chaos = a less cluttered mind and therefore a reduction in anxious-type feelings that steal productivity.

3.       Movement – Plan your time and set out clothes.  Grace for the days it does not work out but it’s a date with yourself so do your best to keep it however that looks for you at your stage of life right now.  Hint:  It to, can be a time of worship.  It is a “get-to” and not a “have-to”.  This can change the focus!

4.       Community – That is what we are all in this life together for.  Let’s cultivate and grow relationships!

CORE SCRIPTURE FOCUS - Isaiah 57: 13-15 – paraphrased

We take refuge in you (therefore do not fear the appearance of outside circumstances seeming larger than you are Lord are to us), vs 13.  May we collectively work to remove stumbling blocks for each other and encourage each other to keep our focus on you, vs. 14.  God dwells with the HUMBLE.  Lord we pray to revive us as humble in spirit and cause us to be teachable.  Let us also know in these days to focus on what is in our control and turn to you that which is not that we would not be overwhelmed by it all. Paraphrased from vs. 15.

CORE Recipe Focus:

Sesame Garlic Chicken:

Serves 6, estimated cook time 15-20 min (good right?)

v  1.5 pounds Chicken cut into pieces or shrimp

v  Sauce:

v  ½ cup orange juice (I used apple, still good)

v  ¼ cup soya sauce and some minced garlic

v  ¼ cup sweetener of choice (I really like maple syrup)

v  1TBS sesame oil (I used olive oil)

v  1 TBS Rice wine vinegar (I used apple cider vinegar)

·         Mix up a glass with some water and cornstarch to add as a thickener later and set aside.

Stovetop:

1.       Chicken or shrimp mostly browned in pan with some oil – watch the heat.  Add all sauce ingredients and simmer.

2.       Add the cornstarch mixture, reduce heat and stir as it begins to thicken.  Cook through add liquid additionally if needed and be sure the meat cooks through. – THAT’S IT!  SERVE OVER RICE, WITH VEGGIES OR CAULIFLOWER RICE IF THAT IS YOUR JAM.

Some CORE Snack ideas:

Hummus and veggies, ants on a log (celery and nut butter!), fresh fruit or smoothie, dried fruit and nuts.

CORE MOVEMENT:

IF you have a plan then rock it!  Some great outdoors options are walking, biking, or paddling depending on your climate.  To build up stabilizer muscles to guard against injuries for our Activities of Daily Living, I invite you to incorporate some sort of resistance training if you do not do so already.   Ideas abound on You Tube and other places like RevWellTV @ www.revelationwellness.org which is free and has a whole library of workouts.  If you have a routine, GREAT!  KEEP IT UP! If you struggle, start small and do what you can to be as consistent as possible. Dividends will be seen everywhere!

NOTE: Always be sure you are cleared for physical activity should there be any health issue that needs to be addressed by a Practitioner.  The key is improving and not causing injury.

CORE COMMUNITY:

Seek one out.  Join the church or the fitness group or simply call that friend that you have become a bit disengaged with.  Take steps to get into relationships.  It takes some intentional effort but the benefits are worth it.

In His Love,

AnnaMarie
